The Manager’s Desk started from a paper rocket: simple, sharp forms that stay in the mind from childhood. I wanted a desk that reads as a clear statement of leadership and ambition, and does not look like ordinary furniture.
I designed it in partnership with RIS Studio, and the craftsmanship is by Tarek Ali Shaheen. I spent the build in the workshop next to the craftspeople, learning how the material behaves. During a visit to a painting workshop I came across the desk taking shape, and I still remember that moment.
